Poultry production has always been a business of decisions—hundreds of them, made every day, often under pressure and with incomplete information. As operations grow more complex, so does the impact of each decision made along the value chain. Today, artificial intelligence is reshaping how producers understand their flocks, anticipate challenges, and act with confidence.

AI in poultry doesn’t mean replacing people. It means equipping growers, managers, and integrators with clearer visibility, better predictions, and faster responses—so they can perform at their best.

1. Understand

Producers rely on vast amounts of information: climate sensors, feed silos, bird weight curves, equipment alerts, flock records, and more. Traditionally, these data streams remain fragmented, making it difficult to detect early deviations or understand how one variable influences another.

3. Optimize

Some challenges require more than early detection—they require choosing the best possible course of action. This is where optimisation intelligence comes in.

When performance begins to drift—birds growing slower than expected, feed conversion deteriorating, or environmental conditions becoming unstable—AI can evaluate multiple possible adjustments. It simulates different combinations of parameters and identifies which scenario is most likely to deliver the best outcome.

Optimisation is short-term, operational, and action-oriented. It ensures that when something is off track, the system not only signals the issue but also recommends the most effective correction.

4. Decide

Even with good visibility and accurate prediction, decision-making can still be overwhelming. The poultry sector faces biological variability, economic constraints, operational limits, and strict production requirements. Human judgment remains essential, but decision fatigue is a genuine concern.

AI-supported decision models help standardise complex choices by integrating domain expertise, historical outcomes, and scenario-based reasoning. This does not replace the decision-maker; it supports them with structured, data-driven options.

5. Improve

Poultry production cycles are repetitive, but lessons from one flock do not always transfer easily to the next. AI can help close this gap.

By analysing results over time, AI highlights what worked, what did not, and why. It identifies bottlenecks, correlates actions with outcomes, and supports long-term optimisation strategies across multiple farms or entire integrations to elevate future performance.
